The problem

I built Sinton to offer a simpler, more organized way to play live channels, for people who use Android phones and Android TV devices with their own playlists.

What it does

  • Import M3U playlists from local files.
  • Browse channels by category and search the imported library.
  • Play channels in the built-in player.
  • Save favorites and check the viewing history.

The technical decision

I chose Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Media3 to build a native experience, with navigation by category, favorites, history, and local processing of large playlists. I also worked on database and memory optimizations for devices with limited resources.

The result

The project grew out of an earlier version, already working and tested on Android TV, and is being split into an app dedicated to live channels. It is still in development, with no confirmed public release.
